It's become clear that this administration is just a protracted war on anybody who's read a book without pictures in it. It's a miracle we're all still getting up and going to work every morning. The psychological drain is the point, and I'm increasingly grateful to the people who are still decent.

Words on a tan background that read: "Sorry I couldn't make it out tonight I already made plans to lie in bed and rub my feet together like a cricket"

The cognitive dissonance of getting up every morning and making coffee and walking the dog and going to meetings and answering emails and wondering what to make for dinner while there is a real live actual coup d’etat happening is BONKERS

Hate the term moving the goalposts bc this is not a game.
But want to mark truth where I can: Legal and institutional efforts to cultivate a more diverse workforce in US have brought science into better relationship w/ reality, and made #science truer, and reversing them is a moral+legal failure.

It looks like marble, but it's a giant ribbon of interstellar gas and dust, illuminated by the shockwave from a supernova.

#JWST is showing us such beauty in the Universe.

Conservation corridors provide hope for Latin America’s felines The jaguar moves between patches of forest in the Mesoamerican Corridor across Central America. Meanwhile, the majestic Colombian Massif still serves as a refuge for the oncilla, while the puma silent...

Latin America’s cats are losing their habitat and becoming trapped in small patches, writes @mongabay.bsky.social.

A male jaguar, says WCS’s Esteban Payán, needs between 10,000 and 20,000 hectares. “Corridors are an important resource because parks on their own aren’t enough.”
