Rainbows of Ireland 🌈 🇮🇪
I'm sad that he's no longer here. The music lives on etc. etc. and I hope he's reunited with his wife Melinda -- she adored him and it was cute to witness the affection they had for each other and their children. Wishing the man a beautiful journey. [8/8]
At one point, he stopped on the FM dial to let a Madonna classic play. It was "Borderline" or "Lucky Star" or something like that. I remember asking him what he thought and his terse response was just the best: "I don't like it." [7/8]
We also got to listen to the radio together; he futzed around with the FM dial non-stop. A totally unforgettable moment to get to listen to pop music by the Beatles and the Stones—with one of pop music's most gifted songwriters himself...[6/8]
But behind the wheel, he was a phenomenal driver...taking those ess curves down the Canyons like an F1 driver...[5/8]
And he also drove us all around L.A. I admit, I was nervous to get in his car (a Mercedes coupe) and let him drive; I believe he was then diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder and I wasn't sure if that impaired his ability to drive. [4/8]
But when we hung out in LA around 2011/2012, we spent the day together doing his usual activities: lunch at the Beverly Glen Deli (he ordered lox, baked beans, and orange juice) and a walk around his favorite park...[3/8]
I had spoken to Wilson many times over the years, and he was always a man of few words -- the dude hated interviews...[2/8]
RIP to Brian Wilson, one of the world's greatest songwriters. Here's a story I think about all the time: When I was a journalist, I did a profile on Wilson for People Magazine, where I worked at the time. I think the news-peg was a celebratory anniversary for the Beach Boys or some such. [1/8]
We love it when the good ones win! 🥳 🍾

Six Degrees of Saoirse-ation 🍀 If you look at the Irish acting scene, you’ll see a close-knit web with Saoirse Ronan at the center, cementing her status as the most prominent Kevin Bacon–style Irish celebrity of our time. trib.al/QszH32A
