UK govt is not threatening reciprocal tariffs against the US and is clearly holding out for exemptions.

Only around 10% of UK steel exports go to America, but there’s a risk steel will be dumped in the UK from other nations hit by tariffs.

❌ The treasure hunt is off.

A judge has thrown out an attempt by James Howells to sue Newport City Council. He wanted access to a rubbish dump to dig up a hard drive containing the key to £600m of Bitcoin, or compensation.

What’s lying idle at the port? Everything from pharma to food. Thousands of parcels for the Irish postal service, only some are able to be re-routed. And on the other side of the Irish Sea, exporters rapidly trying to get trucks on to alternative - very busy - routes to the UK

Storm Darragh: Holyhead Port closure may affect Christmas shopping The aftermath of Storm Darragh disrupts Christmas shopping and passenger ferry services.

I spoke to Irish hauliers and exporters today about the storm-induced closure of Holyhead for this article. “Disastrous” was the most optimistic take, and that was before the port’s closure was extended into next week!

I’m preparing a story about the crisis behind the cameras and I’d love to hear your experiences. It will really help to shape the narrative. Are you a freelancer who has switched careers?

In Wales, production companies have closed. So what’s happened to those freelancers? There’s a hashtag#SurviveTo2025 mantra, but what are they doing and will it pick up next year?

Earlier this year it was estimated that over 50% of freelancers in the UK industry were out of work, with some of them expecting to leave altogether for other careers. It’s driven by a slow-down in commissioning by broadcasters who have been cutting costs.

Wales has a thriving TV industry. Right?

We’ll see some of it on the screen this Christmas.

But behind the cameras a crisis has hit the freelance crews who made the shows. There just hasn’t been enough work for them.
