I did a giant 3-week western loop a few years back; SD, WY, MT, ID, OR, Northern CA, a couple days in Sacramento with friends to regroup, then NV, UT, CO, a night with my parents in KS, MO, IA, back to Mpls. 13 national parks; it was glorious.
