Great photo! One of my favourite areas in the world. I worked in the old Doolin hostel for six weeks back in 1986, and walked along the cliffs most days. Always beautiful and spectacular.
It’s also where I met my wife, so lots of wonderful memories.

You do realise all those parents with “legitimate concerns” about trans kids playing sports with their kids are the same parents with “legitimate concerns” about gay couples adopting kids.
We need leaders to call them out for their unfounded bigotry NOT pander to it. They won’t stop at trans kids.

I think people first thought of it as a way of building community and connections. But slowly more and more people saw the economic potential of building an “audience” by creating “content”. And it just lost its way. Exacerbated by the algorithms and mercenary monetisation of the SM companies.

It’s weird that publishers etc still expect writers etc to have a SM presence, when it seems that unless you’re already famous, nobody cares. And you’ll never become famous by bombarding SM with pointless “content”. Bit of a lose/lose basically.

I feel like social media has had its day really. 90% of people seem to just be promoting/selling stuff/their brand etc. It’s almost impossible to have any real engagement, or to even be noticed unless you’re constantly feeding the machine because you’re one of the 90% of people…

I also think to break out of the traditional binary system requires both empathy and imagination. Sadly the majority of people possess neither.
