NEW THIS MORNING: Forecast First ALERT!
A slow and slushy evening commute is expected. This snow will be blown around by wind gusts up to 45 miles per hour.
The transition has already occurred to our west. Colder temperatures and steady snow arrive over the next few hours.
As of the 1:00 AM update, the temperature is -20° at MSP. This is now the coldest night since January 31, 2019.
We will see just how much colder we get overnight! The -43° is not as cold as the -47° I saw during the last hour! #mnwx
If it's cold outside, show the world the warmth of your smile... something like that! #mnwx
We don't have earthquakes
We don't have hurricanes
We don't have alligators
We DO have the most beautiful summers, lake life, and THIS! #mnwx
A second winter storm is on the way this week. This one will disrupt travel all across the Midwest. Here’s my latest thinking.
A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for the entire metro. 2-5” of snow expected from Midnight Friday - Midnight Saturday. (2” in Blaine, 5” in Lakeville).
Further south, a Winter Storm Warning is in place for 5-9 inches of snow.
Over 12” of snow in parts of Iowa, Wisconsin, and Illinois.
Winter Storm Warnings and Winter Weather Advisories are being issued across much of Minnesota. Details to come all evening long on KSTP! #mnwx
I mean… c‘mon! Love how beautiful this city is!
If you’re a strict “no Christmas decor until after Thanksgiving” person… you don’t have to turn them on… but it’ll be a much more pleasant experience if you put the outdoor decorations up this weekend rather than next!
Sincerely,
Your Christmas Obsessed Meteorologist #mnwx
Winter Weather Awareness week is upon us, and with it comes a chance for snow overnight! Do you know the difference between a winter storm watch, warning, or winter weather advisory? #mnwx
Right! I’m out walking the dog now!
Looking for a way to spend your Friday afternoon? I’d say tackle the outdoor stuff. Raking leaves, exterior Christmas decor? TODAY is your day. This could be the last day of the year that’s this warm. Changes are coming in hot! … (or cold, I guess). #mnwx
Looking down the weather road - We’re mild for the next few days, but a switch to an active and wintry pattern across the country may not be far away. Can I say with absolute certainty? No. The clues, however, are quite strong and paint an interesting picture into December. #mnwx
If the best thing that I’ve seen is your glory, then I’ve seen it all!
Show me your northern lights pictures! I’ll go first!
After 225 days, on November 9, 2025, Winter began in the Twin Cities! The first flakes since April 2nd flew, and once again, I found myself in awe and wonder as if I’d never seen snow before.
My favorite time of the year has arrived, and it truly is the most wonderful!
I just gave this on the air if you missed it!! 😂 But plan for a sticky day, off and on showers in the afternoon, and temps mainly in the 60s. Won’t be terribly hot but you’ll sweat due to humidity and crowds.
The new Minnesota State Fair foods were revealed today… and there’s not a single thing on that list that interests me. 😭😭
What caught your eye?
Minnesauna is funny and I might have to take that one for the air tonight. 🤣
Hahaha thanks so much!
Then He breathed His last
And bowed His head
The Son of God and man was dead
With bloody hands
Tears on their face
They laid Him down
Inside that grave
But that wasn't the end
Friday’s good cause Sunday is coming.
I’ve been grateful to begin a relationship with KTIS! In the latest episode of the Manly With Andy podcast, I shared about how my love of weather began, and how God as truly done exceedingly and abundantly more than I could ask or imagine in my life. You can check it out in the podcast app!
BIG SNOW❄️... more like big NO! The Forecast First Alert is CANCELED.
Data continues to trend AWAY from any snow at all in the metro, and is even much lighter on totals in southern Minnesota.
A weaker and farther south low means less moisture, farther away from the Twin Cities.
- I fine tuned the snow bands and nudged the highest totals upwards slightly.
- Blizzard conditions continue overnight, into the morning commute, ends by midday.
- This is Minnesota. We know how to handle snow. Bottom line remains the same. Prepare for disruptions to school, travel, and power!
Heads Up! ⚠️
With nearly all guidance in alignment, a tournament season storm is coming into focus, with rain changing to wind driven snow Tuesday night into Wednesday.
Nothing unusual by Minnesota standards, but worth watching! Our team will track it over the weekend. #mnwx
Light snow moves in Wednesday, bringing 1-3" near the metro & up to 6" in northern MN. Roads could get slick in spots for the evening commute! ❄️
Beyond that, all eyes are on the weekend—a stronger winter storm may bring heavier snow Saturday. #mnwx
❄️🚘SNOWY COMMUTE!
A band of snow moving across the state could bring slow downs to the morning commute.
It’s a light snow on the order of 1-3 inches with the heaviest in the north metro. It’s BOOM or BUST for the south metro with areas south of 494 seeing potentially nothing to a few inches.
And live from Wayzata, it’s SATURDAY NIIGHTTTTT!
Well well well... if it isn't who I thought would never return. Hey SNOW! Glad to have you back. Why don't you get comfortable and show up big time so we can actually have a nice winter this year.
Redeemer then, redeemer now. For all generations
Come let us worship the king born to save us.
This is our JESUS!
I actually left the bow tie in the car but I’m gonna get it for the 6. It’s black and sequin 😂
