Really? Go back in history and look at radio formats before 1990. We had people like Father Coughlin, Walter Winchell and Paul Harvey years before, but the content wasn't the same tenor or ubiquity.

Fairness Doctrine was repealed in 1987. Limbaugh wasn't syndicated until 1988. Political talk radio didn't exploded until the 90s. Fox News first aired in 1996.
