made errors. lighting as arrays of vectors instead of singular vector. difference is in occlusion (when object blocks light, can't happen in my system) and falloff (no falloff in my system).

i treasure my designers for telling me things like, 'people like glossy surfaces more than matte' and so on because porn is a race to the bottom, but i hate that that thinking is just accepted as gospel even for Message Art

maybe the average person really does just want teflon-smooth art. that is most of what you'll see from the average person's social media. the tools to recognize when something's means are part of its message are restricted to college.

design is often becoming design against friction wherever it is deployed. ideologically, design hates being seen, and hates your art-object being recognized as anything other than prototypical for its category. though, maybe ive just interfaced with the wrong designers.

The developing skill of an artist can overcome flaws and create a work that will become desirable, economically, culturally, intellectually, to the point where its smoothness becomes non-stick and the spirit slides off it like teflon because it looks like so many other technically perfect things
