Turns out when you fire your marketing departments to make line go up by cutting expenses, you can't sell books anymore. HMM.

Publishers ALMOST like that one, then they find out that copies of it have sold already and get scared off (because somehow they don't believe they can sell more copies than I can).

The Zeons being absolute buffoons has consistently been my favourite thing in ZZ so far. Every traditional villain line being undercut by broad physical comedy is so funny.

Watching Slam Dunk has made me want to make a basketball comic with fantasy creatures that will be completely unsellable to publishers because it's not a modern middle school story.

I've heard a few times that the back half of ZZ gets really good. I'm enjoying it, but it doesn't really tonally fit with 0079 or Zeta thus far.

The mobile suit names also seem to be leaning toward "funny comic book sounds," which is adding to the Saturday morning energy. Hamma-Hamma, Bawoo, Ga-Zowm.

I'm about a third of the way into Gundam ZZ, and it had tremendous Saturday morning cartoon energy in contrast to the previous two series. There's so much goofy physical comedy (positive).

Upon learning that Judau's name in Gundam ZZ is pronounced "Judo," I can't help but imagine that if Yoshiyuki Tomino keeps making stuff for long enough, he'll name a character "Karate." And it will be the best.

Time to start digging in the recycle bin!
