It has been a great start to #CSP30 @OPCW. The @gpwmd.bsky.social and @globalaffairs.canada.ca side event occurred today which discussed approaches to counter and mitigate the threat of disinformation to the CWC. Thank you for hosting us Canada 🍁 and to Germany for your participation!

(5/7) We have also observed deliberate promotion of radiological and nuclear falsehoods, intended to stoke public fear, cast doubt on non-proliferation commitments, and undermine confidence in nuclear safety.

(4/7) At the #1972BWC, we have seen the spread of false accusations of #bioweapons programmes, designed to fuel fear, spread panic, destabilise communities, and sow mistrust between states.

(3/7) In the Chemical space, there has been further denial of confirmed chemical weapons attacks, in direct contradiction to the findings of independent, internationally mandated investigations, including by the OPCW.

(2/7) Despite strong efforts to counter disinformation campaigns, we continue to witness deliberate attempts to erode information integrity in multilateral disarmament fora.

(5/6) The erosion of information integrity in the CBRN domains is a pressing concern. The Tracker is a practical tool for those engaged in policy, diplomacy, and verification to support informed discussion, rapid fact-checking, and confidence-building.

(4/6) Each entry in the Tracker links to verified public sources, enabling users to explore the facts directly to understand how misleading narratives emerge and spread, and to see how similar tactics are recycled in different contexts.

(3/6) It traces the evolution of #disinformation campaigns across several key cases, enabling us to understand the big picture of how disinformation evolves as a strategic mechanism of information warfare.

(2/6) This tool is a chronological, interactive resource that tracks how disinformation is shaping multilateral disarmament debates on weapons of mass destruction, displaying instances of #CBRN #disinformation in international disarmament fora.
