As discussions continue at the #1972BWC, #SIMBA_BIO offers a clear example of how international commitments can be translated into regional action through collaborative partnerships. 🤝 🌍

National experts from African States Parties shared their experiences with #SIMBA_BIO & explored future African-GP collaboration with other States Parties, including through the UNODA-led project on ‘Supporting Universalization & Effective Implementation of the BWC in Africa’.

The side event opened with remarks from the 2025 Canadian Presidency of the #GPWMD, offering a forward-looking perspective on #SIMBA_BIO’s development.

The Chief of the #BWCISU also shared an overview of UNODA’s initiatives to support #1972BWC implementation in Africa.

📍 Today, on the margins of the Sixth Session of the Working Group on Strengthening the Biological Weapons Convention #1972BWC, a #SIMBA_BIO side event highlighted recent collaboration with the #BWCISU & African-GP partners.

(3/4) The @gpwmd.bsky.social Initiative to #Counter #Disinfo has developed a ‘BW disinformation primer’ as a tool for stakeholders to identify and understand the tactics, narratives and motivations that underpin malicious biological weapons disinformation.

As evidenced by this important @rusi.bsky.social analysis, #GPWMD and its partners remain at the forefront of global efforts to identify, assess, and address WMD threats.
