In 2026, France will focus on key thematic priorities:
🔹Bio: Detection & #SIMBA_BIO – focusing on Francophone African countries
🔹NRS: Emergency response, emerging tech, support to Ukraine
🔹Chem: Support to Syria & Ukraine
🔹CBRN: WMD-relevant tech & WMD disinfo

The Global Partnership welcomes France as the #G7 GP President for 2026. France assumes the role at a defining moment for international security, where evolving #CBRN threats require collective vigilance & cooperation.

Counter Proliferation Programme guidance: financial year 2026 to 2027 This guidance explains the Counter Proliferation Programme objectives for the financial year 2026 to 2027 and how to apply through the project bidding process.

The UK has launched its 2026/2027 Counter Proliferation Fund (CPF). Implementers are now invited to submit their project proposals.

The Conference closed with African states adopting a "Declaration by the representatives of African States Parties on the universalisation and comprehensive implementation of the Biological Weapons Convention" - to be delivered to the BWC Meeting of States Parties this December.

📍 This week 50 African states met in Kenya to exchange on BWC Implementation at the African Conference on the Biological Weapons Convention. Supported by the
#BWCISU and #SIMBA_BIO they identified challenges, needs and priorities in African subregions.

It's the last day of the @gpwmd.bsky.social Working Group Meetings. There have been some great discussions with delegates and implementing partners on strengthening cooperative threat reduction activities and we are glad to see countering #CBRN #disinfo remains a top priority.

Thank you to all participants for your dedication and contributions throughout this productive week!

The work doesn’t end here – GP partners remain engaged and active in confronting WMD threats worldwide and helping vulnerable states keep their populations safe.

We closed the week with France – incoming G7 and GP President for 2026 – sharing their vision and priorities for the year ahead.

Key outcomes from Canada’s presidency:

✅ Adoption of revised bio and chem security programming strategies
✅ Agreed next steps to tackle cross-cutting challenges like WMD disinfo, strategic trade controls and WMD-relevant technologies
✅ Improved matchmaking process

That’s a wrap on the final #GPWG of 2025!

It’s been a productive week of discussions across the #GPWG and its sub-working groups – reviewing ongoing activities, aligning priorities and identifying pathways for continued progress.

The strong participation of donors and implementers reflects a shared commitment to advance impactful, cooperative threat reduction in vulnerable states 🤝

Throughout the week, #GPWG participants are engaging in expo-style matchmaking – showcasing proposals and exploring new collaborations on chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear security.
