The βSEND crisisβ and the notion of necessity.
Here I want to argue that bringing clarity to a confused and ambiguous notion of 'necessity' might alleviate some of the problems relating to the SEND crisis.
The SEND crisis and the concept of *necessity*.
I argue that the concept of necessity used in law is incoherent and that clearing this up may help alleviate some of the problems relating to the SEND crisis.

And we're keen to talk to as many people as we can as we do this work. Which is why we launched @inclusioninpractice.org.uk last weekend, as a way to try and capture good examples of how inclusive practice is being delivered. And we're hoping that as wider group as possible will engage with this.

We also have a DCS on the EAG who is very close to the work and commissioning of these wider services and so to reassure, this is prominent in most of the conversations I am part of.
Important to say though, we don't pretend that the EAG represents every perspective or part of the system
21.03.2025 18:01 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
A big challenge for us, is how we create the right targeted and specialist support in and around schools.
This is certainly a big part of the conversations that I am part of and I'm pleased that we have a practising Ed Psych who also chairs NAPEP as part of the Inclusion EAG.

Hi @damsoned.bsky.social
Good to hear from you and agree that it is a good thing that we are having a conversation about SEND/Inclusion with a much wider scope than previously.
You are right to point out that schools cannot do inclusion alone.

We know what the problems are, theyβve been reported and discussed widely. But it is also important that we hear from the innovators and those who have been doing phenomenal work against the odds of the system. Please take some time to contribute to this.
