It is easy to notice that the first letters of the mansions in Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon spell out the word GHOST: Gloomy Manor, Haunted Towers, Old Clockworks, Secret Mine, Treacherous Mansion However, the same also goes for the boss ghosts and bonus missions: Grouchy Possessor/Gradual Infiltration, Harsh Possessor/Hostile Intrusion, Overset Possessor/Outlandish Interruption, Shrewd Possessor/Severe Infestation, Tough Possessor/Terrifying Invasion Finally, much more subtly due to not being assigned to one area each, the names of the five regular ghost types in Luigi's Mansion 3 also spell GHOST: Goob, Hammer, Oozer, Slinker, Trapper The names of the Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon ghosts, unfortunately, spell out GGHSS.

The newer Luigi's Mansion games have a running theme of naming groups of five things in such a way that their first letters spell out "GHOST". Some of these are obvious, while others are more subtle.
