The whole "we" thing gets under my skin. I also see it on here with Canadians talking about events down in the States, especially partisan politics, using "we" and like no. "We" are not shaping the priorities of the Democratic Party because we are citizens of a totally different country
holy shit
For the love of God, Pokemontressor!!
"Please, Mr. Genghis-Khan was my father"
I will take a later sunrise in exchange for a later sunset in the winter. I hope Smith does it and you can make whatever arguments you want about standard time. I don't reject them but they aren't important to me. Permanent DST is my preference. I've lived with both. Please end this clock changing
Having grown up in Saskatchewan it is wild to see how many people think going to school or work in the dark is this unspeakably terrible thing. It's fine to have preferences but I did not find this to be a big problem as a kid and as a late-riser I hate how early it gets dark during standard winters
For what it's worth, I'm not on here much right now because of Lent but I find your ruminations on this really valuable and I'm grateful you're doing it
I am already seeing "it's a distraction!" takes and please fucking kill me
Nika is probably episode 8 or 9 of a 10 episode first season yeah. Everything prior is the relationship with Theodora, introducing Belisarius, and a few other B plots
This asshole said "I think" twice in the same sentence
The big problem with a Justinian series I think is figuring out how to structure your arcs I think. He reigned for a really long time and spent most of it in the palace. I'm sure it's doable but you need to compress a lot
so yes, you can transform a CBS or a CNN into right-wing slop, and yes that will have an impact, but it is also true that americans will have access to a large universe of other information AND they will continue to build new venues for telling stories about the world and sharing their views…
Its funny that Bluesky, a phone website for people who dont watch TV, is forever convinced that TV has some sort of eternal power to dictate the culture
We gotta let the Warners out of the water tower, they'll put a stop to this
And it happens *early* in Princess of Mars. "John Carter is a civil war veteran you say? Oh well surely he...THE ARMY OF NORTHERN VIRGINIA!?"
I loved Princess of Mars when I read it but uh, yeah. The only thing I'll say, not in his defence at all but just as an addendum, is that basically all of the sort of adventure stories of that time period are pretty bad. Like I love pulp adventure and horror from that era but it is *bad* on race
Do it. Minnesota is nice. Just make sure you take the reduced sun in the winter seriously
God damn I miss those frozen fruit pops they had. Honestly, all of it was pretty good
Tonight is gonna be a chill-ass stream on the RoboDudeTV broadcast.
Well, as chill as Helldivers 2 can be, I guess.
Tap in.

It's shitty but we'll push back as able and keep rolling the boulder. I'm confident we'll get there
Yeah and like, I'm not going to pretend that people aren't mad for pretty good reasons. I just find that most people can in fact distinguish between Donald Trump and Guy Democrat
I mean, I get it but I also don't have much time for raging at people you have access to rather than people who are to blame. I'm not going to yell at Democrats or libs on BlueSky for the same reason I'm going to block you if you come at me about AB's heinous attack on trans kids
Relationship with the United States for reasons of geography, culture, and economics". Obviously my circle isn't the be-all but I see this thing on here a lot more than I see it out in the world. Being a progressive Albertan makes "God damn I am represented by some bastards" pretty relatable
If it makes you feel better, every person I've spoken to about this is in real life has opinions that are a lot more measured than what gets posted here. Generally something like "well this is a wake up call that we need to diversify more even though we'll always by necessity keep having a close
Yeah this isn't a close question and as an Albertan who is very frustrated by separatist bullshit, anyone talking about seceding American states should know better. If people want to move that's fine but saying northern states should join us is not only wrong, it's also dumb
I am so much more optimistic now than this time last year for exactly this reason. It is very frustrating but a lot of people just didn't get it
This is just another version of Tech Founder Brain where it's not enough to be able to do a thing, it's critical that everybody validate you about it and tell you that you're a special boy
You're supposed to respect him and think he's on the right side while also being deeply annoying. So the answer is kind of both
Man fuck this show
