With the $45 million being spent on the president's parade hereβs what that money could do for veterans instead:
House 3k veterans for an entire year in transitional housing
Provide full PTSD treatment for 3.75k veterans for a year
Deliver job training to 9k veterans through 12-week programs

The lesson people infuriatingly never seem to master is that there is no creating a police state just for other people. If you create a police state with no due process for immigrants or accused criminals, then that's the system you've created for yourself.

New Health Affairs Scholar article on postpartum care under Medicaid. 76% had a visit between 61-365 days after birth, but this varied by state and individual factors. Our findings show benefits of recent 12-mo. postpartum extensions but suggest where gaps in care remain.

Reupping my blog from yesterday. The major #Medicaid cuts under consideration to meet the budget resolution target of at least $880b in cuts are the same Medicaid cuts from failed 2017 repeal bills. House GOP leaders are just trying to disguise them as anti-fraud. ccf.georgetown.edu/2025/02/24/s...

State Variation in Black and White Life Expectancy and Evolving Disparities
In this brief, we quantify differences in life expectancy between and within non-Hispanic Black and white populations over time and across states.
In the 3 decades prior to the pandemic, gaps between black and white life expectancy narrowed, but progress was uneven across the states. We document here. Next step: Did policy produce these patterns? Stay tuned. @urbaninstitute.bsky.social @rwjf.bsky.social
