Fun fact: If x is a variable that can only take on the values of 0 and 1 and y(x) is a if x=0 and b if x=1, then we can write y(x) in a closed form.

y(x)=a^(1-x)*b^x

Try computing y(0) and y(1). It works!

This is useful in probability theory where x and y are random variables.
