I was there in 1988 when the Germans visited and saw a German rubber testing machine that we had taken from them as war reparations. Back to Bayer.

And still making rubber in 2025. Unfortunately, just a shell of its former glory.

I worked with many of the people who did the 1942 start up. They didn’t need a “mission statement” to know what their job was.

The Polymer Corporation in Sarnia ON made the synthetic rubber necessary to win WW2 after Japan captured all natural rubber supplies. A crown corporation in a strategic industry built from scratch in 18 months.
