Also has a lot to say about migration, how these people were forced West by the tractor and the Bank, how this spurred anger in the communities that they came to. So relevant today and incredibly critical of an economic system (and inevitable technology) that drove once proud people off their land
We just read The Grapes of Wrath...most anti-capitalism novel I've ever read. Proudly asserts humanity and dignity in the face of economic disenfranchisement. Took some extensive notes on the whole book trying to outline these themes

Based on Grapes, I'm surprised to hear he supported Vietnam. I know little about his life though, sounds quite interesting. Looks like I need to do some more reading!
Might I recommend The Grapes of Wrath

Great quote. Was Steinbeck considered radical during his time? Just considering his views on migration, capitalism, the police, etc.
