Me bro and I played this loads. Polar was arguably the best character. We loved it and as a Mario Kart rival it was an exceptionally polished and good effort from memory. ‘Start your engines for a Naughty Dog creation’ (or something like that!). CTR rocked!

My Appalachian Trilogy has been revised to a quadrilogy. Add the excellent fun Tucker and Dale Vs Evil to that list. It’s such a fun movie and Labine and Tudyks chemistry is off the chart. Some doozy lines and real heart. Cracking little film and such a shame it underperformed so. 8/10. Watch it.

A film I want to see though I suspect that score suffers a little from early adopter bias and will come down in time. Was hoping to see with my son at the cinema but (and same deal with Bring Her Back) they’re both 18s so he can’t go. My son said ‘must be some pretty good stuff in there then’! 😂

It’s Friday evening. I had a lovely charity day at work helping local charity take camping site down and I have a cold beer. Good times! Wife suggests a game of Yahtzee and proceeds to thrash me 5-0. Mood killed. Bad times! 😂

Bloodlines had no right whatsoever to be that entertaining. I’m looking forward to it coming on streaming at a reasonable price as want to see it again with the wife this time. It was great fun.

Good story this one. Any fans should also check out the great Clint thriller Eacape from Alcatraz though they’ve probably already seen it. I’ll enjoy this episode! Thanks!

Apologise all arachnophobes - just liberated the mother of all spiders 🕷️ from the hall stairs! Sheesh! Hopefully he or she will find what they’re looking for out in the garden.

I can’t decide whether to watch Cloverfield or The Naked Gun (original). Or read my book (The Omen). Life is a huge pile of difficult decisions isn’t it?

Oh do! Seen it several times and it’s really mind melter if you try to understand it. I also recommend Timecrimes if that sort of caper is your bag. Another baffler but falling asleep midway through didn’t help (tired and not the films fault). If you like your sci-fi hard watch Dark on Netflix. Fab!

Only read it once and was both blown away and utterly baffled by it (had a similar reaction to sci-fi film Primer). I should revisit it at some point.

After a bit of half arsed research, and assuming it’s not Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau, I think it’s quoting to preserve. Every day is a school day! 😀

I’m too ignorant to know what QTP stands for (please enlighten me) but one of my first phones was Motorola V70. Made me feel like Buck Rogers. Tres cool (but from memory fairly crap and impractical). Note - wasn’t my first - that was a boring old Nokia but V70 makes for a far more exciting post!

Fantasic Four: First Steps. A fun film with a healthy focus on small scale family, some big scale world saving and a small dose of Shadow of the Colossus. Also a rather out of the blue cameo from Mark Gatiss. 7/10.

I did watch Deliverance again and it’s still good. Duelling 🪕 🪕s is one of cinemas great scenes and there’s still a moment of huge ambiguity that gets me 🤔 every time I see it. I have my ideas but won’t share them for fear of spoilers. A great watch but not always an easy one.

Just seen Deliverance is on the iplayer so may rewatch that soon. Also got me thinking. Appalachian Tourist Board Trilogy - Deliverance, Wrong Turn and the Descent. Water, on ground and under it. What a blinder of a movie triple bill then go hiking in the mountains after. Sign me up!

Nice review. MMFR and Furiosa are up there with the best action films I’ve ever seen and two exceptional films full stop. It’ll be a travesty if the last part is never made (George could exec produce if he didn’t have the energy). Original trilogy don’t do much for me but these are 👌!

There’ll be a bow on the next one when Ms turns up! While I don’t generally gel with HK games I love his love for the genre.

And the bit in the cinema queue when the chaps giving it the big ‘I am’ and saying the works of Marshall someone or other and Alvie pulls Marshall into the queue and he says to the chap ‘you don’t understand my work at all’. 😂

I’ll leave now Duane as I’m due back on planet Earth! Also Duane’s monologue about driving then a few minutes later he’s driving Alvie back and look on Alvie’s face. Priceless. Think I’m remembering those both correctly.

Chappie is, for me, the weakest of Blomkamp’s unofficial sci-fi trilogy but is not without its charm. Again brilliant effects, a very touching turn from Copley as the titular robot and some interesting ideas elevate it but the story is weak but if you’ve never seen it it’s worth if your time.

Another Blomkamp rewatched. Elysium. Great effects and I love his shooting style. A little sappy in parts and contrived even by sci-fi standards but a solid watch and once again the star of the show is Copley. That man could read me the phone book and I’d be entertained! Well done boet! 7.5/10.

Trying the R-Type demo on Switch 2. I loved that game as a kid but I’m bloody awful at it and the badass Bydo boys and gals just walk all over me. From memory I was poor at it back in the day too but games had to last you then so you persevered. Glad I just did the demo! Easy come easy go!

If you enjoy your John Wicks, John Woos and The Raids and accept a large dose of ultra violence do watch Monkey Man. A great film which mixes excellent fight choreography with Hindu history and a touching story and a few genuinely funny moments. 8/10 easy and bravo Dev Patel.

Everyone had those actors who they just love in whatever they do and I’ve just realised Sharlto Copley is one of mine. He’s just hugely charismatic and watchable in everything I’ve seen him in and all the more impressive given his history and how late he was to acting. Love him.
