Large blue and white bird with yellow eyes and a yellow beak is perched on log at a marsh.

I went looking for the heron again yesterday, he did not disappoint. It took several return trips to the location, but he gave another very brief photo op. This bird’s plumage is so exquisitely beautiful it was unbelievable.

STEEL BALL RUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A majestic-looking Tricolored Heron with mostly blue-gray coloring with some lavender feathers at the lower neck is standing in shallow water. There are breeding plumes at the back of the head and the bill is blue toward the face and black at the end. There is a mottled white and blue-gray stripe down the front of the throat and the belly is white. The legs are pinkish-red.

Another early morning for me. I saw this gorgeous Tricolored Heron in its breeding plumage yesterday at the South Padre Island Birding and Nature Center. The bill was absolutely an electric blue and the photo doesn't do it justice. #birds #originalcontent #photography 📷

Large shorebird looking over San Francisco Bay. It has white and dark blue stripes on head, orange bill, yellow eyes. Body is mostly feathers that are shades of blue, tan and gray with a peach colored patch on its hip. Water is blue. Riprap is covered by barnacles and green seaweed.

Close-up of a red fox.  The fox is centered in the frame and is looking directly at the camera. Its fur is a rich reddish-brown, with a noticeable white-cream ruff around its neck and throat.  The fur appears thick and dense. The fox's face has expressive, dark eyes, a medium-sized nose, and a pointed snout.  Its paws are a dark brown/black.  The background is out of focus, consisting of a light brown wooden surface, likely a floor or wall.  The suggestion of a darker material/structure is visible behind and to the right side of the fox.  The ground/bedding material the fox is standing on is light gray/white. It appears to be a loose, granular substance, like wood shavings or similar bedding material.
