1911 census form with "Votes for Women; No Vote No Census" written across the section that should have had people's details entered. Gladys Hazel's name and address is in the bottom right corner.
She resigned shortly afterwards, becoming an Assistant Organiser for the Birmingham branch of the WSPU, and the following year boycotted her 1911 census return. 3/3 #WomensHistoryMonth

Printed extract from the Governor Order Books, 30 Nov 1910, explaining that Hazel has been absent from teaching duties to attend WSPU demonstrations in London.
At one WSPU demonstration she smashed windows in the West End of London, which landed her in Holloway prison alongside Pankhurst and Emily Davison. Our Governor's minutes note that she was absent from work to attend protests, and that the cost of hiring cover would be docked from her pay. 2/3
