even though we have some promising parties in the UK we are seeing one of many limitations of electoral politics where the incumbent government just gets to do whatever the fuck they want until they are voted out. how is a 20% approval rating prime minister doing shit nobody wants "democracy"?

and in the end? mamdani effectively had to face the full might of the democratic party AND the republican party anyway. i won't be ignorant and say there was NO value in being a dem, but does anyone think starting a legitimate 3rd party will be any easier with the way things are going?

it's truly frustrating since we're at a point where there's genuine hunger to go further left than what is offered by the neoliberal, perceived, duopoly. this is easier than it will ever be to break off from the dems, and all that has happened is a TON of energy redirected straight back into them
