2) Changing Tera types is way too expensive. 50 shards is too much when you only get 2-3 per raid, even in lategame. Yes, this is fixed in DLC, but that's another problem.

I see the potential in this mechanic. It's fun! But it's held back by external factors, limiting its potential to most players.

That said, during the adventure there's two baffling restrictions.

1) You can only use it once, then you gotta recharge at a Pokemon Center. Why? This limits the player's use of, and experience with, the mechanic. Once per battle is enough of a restriction imo. Worked for Megas, worked for Z-moves.

60 hours into Pokemon Scarlet, and I wanna talk about Terastallization.

I REALLY like this generational gimmick, borrowing some DNA from Megas. Unlike Megas, Teras are available to any mon, don't need a held item, and can change into any type, at the cost (or benefit) of being locked to mono-typing

I do miss the shiny sound effect that plays when one spawns in Legends Arceus (which apparently is also in Z-A).

I only noticed this one because she was bright friggin green. God only knows how many other shinies I've missed just because I didn't notice them.

Ngl, I do think there's $20 of content in the upgrade pack.

Whether there's $20 of content that I would play and enjoy is another question, and is why I'm still on the fence.

I don't think we've seen everything yet, so I'm withholding judgment for now.

So DKC Returns HD received an awesome update last night, adding:

Dixie Kong
Turbo time attack
Faster load times
Fixing the multiplayer bounce bug
And GameShare

That last one is neat, but what sucks to me is that for some reason, GameShare in this game is local only.

No online DKC Returns. Damn.

There is some precedent for this within first party Nintendo, and I would welcome this idea.

Apparently, when playing Zelda: BotW or TotK in Japanese, everything in the quest log is written from Link's point of view. To this day, I don't know why this was changed for the English release.

Is it perfect? Hell no.

The game desperately needs better texturing, battles need speeding up, the pop-in is (still) horrendous, and we need some semblance of voice acting.

But from my experience thus far, the core gameplay loop is perhaps the strongest I've seen, even rivaling Legends Arceus.

Three gyms and 20 hours into Pokemon Scarlet, and I gotta say, I'm really enjoying this game!

But it's so sad that my experience is not the same as anyone who played this anytime near launch, or those who can only play it on Switch 1.

Here on Switch 2? Butter smooth, near-frictionless experience.

My Top 3 most played games of 2025 by hour count, placing Mario Kart World at #3 with 180 hours, Splatoon 3 (mostly Salmon Run) at #2 with 355 hours, and Xenoblade Chronicles X: DE at #1 with 538 hours

A brief overview of what Nintendo thinks my gaming style is based on my hours of playtime in 2025, with Action at 44%, RPGs at 19%, Adventure at 15%, Shooting at 9%, Party at 7%, and Racing at 6%. Honestly, take this with a grain of salt. I don't think this is anywhere near accurate to my gaming preferences.

Man, you can really tell from this that the Switch is my only gaming platform.

The launch (calendar) year of the Switch 2 wasn't perfect, but it had more than enough bangers for me, and I never felt like I was wanting for new games.

That said, how the heck did I spend so many hours in Xenoblade X?

Kirby Air Riders

I've only had a week with this (Christmas present), but I'm pleasantly surprised at how much depth there is in the gameplay.

City Trial will likely be my favorite mode, but I'm feeling that itch for racing mastery that Mario Kart World got from me.

The Switch 2 had a banger 2025 lineup imo (though only 7 months of it) and I've got plenty of games on my backlog/upgraded replay list that the Switch 2 will facilitate.

Just because most of these games don't interest me doesn't mean they don't matter to other people

Looking at this lineup, unless a 2026 Direct changes things, (which, it will) I might not be getting many first party Nintendo games next year.

I'm VERY interested in Splatoon Raiders.

The Mario Wonder upgrade and Yoshi are both a maybe.

Besides that...that's about it.

Super Mario Party Jamboree

Finally decided to spend some time learning this game.

Right now, I'd say Superstars is more consistently better, but was lacking in content. Jamboree has MUCH more content, but comes off as more hit and miss, notably in boards and side modes.

Best enjoyed with friends.
