I guess this is one way of saying that uncertainty in snow totals is larger than normal.
2-23" in Coatesville.
Even with the biggest snowstorm in several years a few weeks ago, State College has fallen behind normal snowfall to date.
Normal snowfall through February 11: 26.5"
Snow this cold season: 24.3"

As impressive as the recent cold stretch has been, State College still hasn't managed a day with a single-digit high. Yesterday was one of the better chances, but we made it to 13ºF.
We haven't had a day with a high in the single digits since 2018. #pawx
State College up to 8 consecutive days with high temps less than 20º. That's the 2nd longest streak on record, trailing the 9 consecutive days from January 1893 #pawx
The last week of January in State College had a mean temp of 8.9ºF, and ranked as the 3rd coldest on record.
(Though it wasn't close to the coldest 7-day stretch on record overall, which had a mean temp of -0.4ºF in February of 1899) #pawx
Elite pre-snow cold air. -2ºF this morning on campus at Penn State. Coldest morning of the winter so far #pawx
Impressive early December cold: Low of 8º this morning at the PSU COOP site in State College is the lowest this early in the season since 1989.
Nowhere near a daily record though (-1º in 1917) #pawx
Some serious Glenn Braggs vibes on that one.
We've already had 8 sub-50º mornings on campus at Penn State since the beginning of August. That's the most up to this point in September since 1994. We haven't seen this many cool, crisp mornings at this time of year in a few decades.
Brutal. The extra inning performance could be the difference between playoff/no playoff. Even a modest 7-7 in extras would have them tied with the Mets right now
Congratulations, Jeff!
Overall, the May rainfall in #StateCollege #pawx was beneficial. At the beginning of the month, we had about a 2.50" rainfall deficit year-to-date
The very wet May eliminated the deficit, and by the end of the month we're a little more than a half-inch above normal for the year
The 22 days of measurable precip brought a total of 7.56" of rain. That tied for the 7th wettest may on record in #StateCollege #pawx, and was the wettest May since 1953.
A weather rarity in #StateCollege #pawx. May had 22 days with measurable precip, tying the record for any month since 1893.
The only other months with 22 days of measurable precip also happened to be Mays -- in 2003 and 1908
Is this the highest run total since the 24-12 game in 1999?
I enjoyed filling it with mostly random Reds bench players.
With a modest 6.7" of snow so far this month, State College, PA is having its snowiest start to a calendar year since 2003. #pawx
Temps dipped to 7º before 7 AM this morning on campus at Penn State. That's the lowest temperature this early in the season since 2016.
Hello from State College, PA
Nice work, Jeff!
After another 1.35" of rain in #StateCollege through 8AM, we're up to 5.56" for the month so far.
This is by far the wettest start to April to date. Even without another drop of rain this month, we would finish with a top 15 wettest April. #pawx
Four-day rain total of 4.09" in #StateCollege -- an immense amount for meteorological spring.
The last time we had a wetter four-day period in spring was April 1948! We won't need many more April showers this month... #pawx
Dallas hit 94º today -- 3rd highest temperature on record in February there. The top 3 highest temps:
96º on 2/25/1904
95º on 2/21/1996
94º today
Pea sized hail in State College, PA in February.
State College, PA hasn't had a 1"+ snow since late January 2023 -- a streak of 344 consecutive days, the longest streak on record by more than 3 weeks.
Tomorrow is the day...
