Bus stop signs which include "Hartford Hospit"

An entire hospital? In this economy?

Photo taken yesterday morning of snow and ice covering paved pedestrian/cyclist path through park Photo taken today of same pedestrian/cyclist path through park, but minus snow on the pavement. If it's not accessible year-round, it is not accessible.

This afternoon was my first commute since January that did not require I walk through snow/ice.

People need to flip their ideas about the purposes that "recreation paths" serve.

At least one of last month's preventable fatal pedestrian crashes was linked to a combination of poor public transit and a roadway built to kill.

Main Street bus stops with two buses in frame. A CTtransit bus is in front of the Gold Building. A CTfastrak-branded green and silver bus is in foreground near an empty planter. There is a bus shelter on opposite side of street.

Gov. Lamont is pandering to Tr*mp voters by promoting gasoline subsidies. Meanwhile, we have members of the Connecticut State Police showing up at CTfastrak stations to (I’m guessing) provide armed reinforcement for CTtransit‘s fare checkers.

One major problem with this country is that we've ingrained car culture into everything. Rather than just stating that someone needs a photo ID, we say driver's license as if everyone drives a car.

Or, hear me out: we ✨don’t✨do a gas tax holiday ever and that money goes into a transportation rainy day fund just for transit (mostly buses).

Having a state trooper alongside fare checkers at the bus station is a fucked up choice

Connecticut gas tax could be suspended as prices rise and Lamont calls for action "I would think sooner rather than later. I think the need is right now," Gov. Ned Lamont said of a gas tax holiday.

Watching the CT legislature quietly eliminate free bus fares for high school kids after it passed last year(a few million $) as the governor casually talks about using $500 million on a temporary gas tax holiday is pretty radicalizing

If any CT people want a treat, go read the anti-vaxxer public testimony on CGA site. It's like a record number of "anonymous" and one-sentence letters and others with ALL CAPS rants. (I was browsing to make sure nobody I know was anti-science)

Disability accommodations are a rare thing that actually trickles down. You like curb cutouts? Auto-opening doors? Jar openers? Ramps? Hand rails? YOU’RE WELCOME

Even as an abled person you use disability accommodations every single day.

Supporting accommodations actually helps everyone.

I think when people mindlessly say things like "Freedom isn't free" in an effort to obscure the horrors of war and what this regime is doing, they should be asked about crimes like this

A long paragraph of Tr*mp rambling and ranting about weapons.

There is actually nothing I need to understand about voters who chose 24/7 incoherent, belligerent rambling over the alternatives.

Oppose Confirmation of Bradford P. Wilson as Archivist of the United States Text SIGN PDDAUS to 50409 — I urge you to oppose the confirmation of Bradford P. Wilson as Archivist of the United States. Federal law explicitly requires that this nominee possess "the professional qualifications required to perform the duties and responsibilities of the office of Archivist" and be appointed "without regard to political affiliations." Wilson fails to meet either standard. Wilson has no experience in federal government, no background in archives or federal records management, and no executive-administrative experience leading large organizations. The National Archives and Records Administration is a complex, widely distributed independent federal agency that requires proven leadership capabilities. Wilson's most recent position was as the James Wilson Distinguished Visiting Scholar at Utah Valley University, and he previously served as Executive Director of the James Madison Program at Princeton University. Neither role prepared him to manage an agency of NARA's scope and importance. Equally concerning is Wilson's extensive record in ultra-conservative organizations that directly contradicts the statutory requirement for political neutrality. He served as a senior research fellow at the Witherspoon Institute, an organization with an anti-LGBTQIA+ agenda. He was president of the Association for the Study of Free Institutions, which explicitly seeks to counter progressive trends in education. He also served on the Advisory Council of the Great Hearts Institute, a charter-school organization. This pattern of partisan affiliation is precisely what federal law prohibits for this position. History demonstrates the damage partisan Archivists inflict on NARA, federal recordkeeping, and agency staff. The office has already been vacant for more than a year since the previous Archivist was fired without cause and without required congressional notification. Installing an unqualified, politically aligned nominee would compound this institutional harm. The National Archives safeguards our nation's historical record and ensures government accountability through proper records management. This position demands nonpartisan expertise, not ideological loyalty. I ask you to reject this nomination and insist on a qualified, genuinely nonpartisan candidate who can restore integrity to this critical institution.
