Yeah still nothing about his origins. I've said it before on Twitter but I hope Season 3 just gaslights anime onlies into thinking they always knew by simply being casual about him c:

The action was really well done as well. I loved the fight between Garfiel, Ricardo, and Monsieur Cultist Whose Name is a Spoiler - plus Wilhelm and Madame Cultist Whose Name is Also a Spoiler. So I think the wonky moments are balanced out by having just as many gorgeous and well-animated moments.

Capella's dragon form looked amazing. I loved the scene with her regenerating. I'm also impressed with how far Season 3 has been taking the brutality compared to previous seasons. The gore feels more detailed and it doesn't seem to shy away from it as much as past seasons did.

Plus it was more than made up for by INCREDIBLE visuals in other scenes in this same episode. The shot of Typhon's corpse, Garfiel's entrance, and Roy's introduction were all fantastic. There were also many visually amazing moments that felt completely casual (like Ferris healing Mimi).

This is the first episode where I felt there was anything wonky about the art/characters but those moments were brief and still thankfully nowhere near as bad as similar moments in Season 2 so 😭 just a nitpick really but it stood out since the art has otherwise been amazing so far this season.

(I say it doesn't address his shoulder wound but it DOES imply it by having him grab his shoulder, but that's also the furthest it goes, so we STILL haven't gotten the explanation we should've had since Season TWO began lol - and this Arc 5 scene readdresses it in the LN too lol)

The only real complaint I have about Episode 4 as an adaptation is how it doesn't address WHO had the Divine Protection of the Death God (or Wilhelm's shoulder wound), while this scene in the LN does. So now we're gonna get "Yeah that's [spoilers]" out of nowhere in the anime.

I also dislike that they cut Garek Thompson's name and we only learn Garfiel's mom's name in the form of his question, and not beforehand, but ultimately these are just nitpicks. There might be some important things I forgot idk. So ig Ep 3 is the one I have the most issues with.

Maybe this is recency bias (even tho I just fully reread Arc 5 very recently lol) but aside from a few nitpicks I'd honestly put the anime Arc 5 above the novel versions so far. I think my biggest issue so far is in Episode 3 with the leadup to Garfiel and Mimi's rooftop scene.

RE:ZERO S3E4

It's another episode of "keeping all the most important stuff while streamlining it for runtime" and I'm loving it. The atmosphere in the first half of the episode and the way they presented everything was super effective for me. I felt more tension watching this than reading tbh.
