I’d say I kind of need the monster ex kidnapping and tying up the beloved in a basement trope because it’s not realistic … and then sadly remember the kind of work I do and it’s all too common.

I’m now looking for a third book to read ; I started one but it got awkward and I needed a distraction but then that one has gotten awkward where he’s gonna have to break up with a guy and I’m just too delicate right now for those big emotions

Also, these chapter breaks feel so arbitrary - like people used to a commercial break instead of a change in topic or direction

This latest book has taken me 48 hours to read 36 pages … because I cannot handle uncomfortable situations and it’s a straight guy trying to sort out his sexuality while receiving 👤 … and instead of finding the guys number he goes on a hookup app!!!

This character just dropped his hat while getting beer and feels embarrassed - which means I’m hiding out here because I caught the secondhand embarrassment and now hiding from my book.

I love reading revisionist historical fiction , imagining a history and a world with queer and black and brown people simply living their life and not a story about struggle but about the mundane .

At least once a month I go through this sort of phantom limb symptom - phantom womb if you will - compounded by the fact that even if I were cis , I’m approaching the limits of child bearing years. And a grief I thought I’d made peace with has resurfaced in a different way on this fertility journey
