..books at the right time, and the love and the fun follows. Younger children just love getting a book that is recommended. They love 'fun' illustrations and love getting lost in a story. You've got to get the reading enjoyment in place as early as possible +then encourage with knowledge/enthusiasm
I've come to realise it's about when certain books are introduced as much as what books. Getting GNs into younger children, my current Y4s for example, has slowly nudged them into reading a wider range of excellent novels. In Y6, some struggled with stamina to enjoy amazing novels. Just finished I Am Raven by @alastairc.com from @nosycrow.bsky.social and I think it's 'a better than the first in the series' kind of book. I really enjoyed the world opening up and some questions getting answered. Building to a great climax for book 3! I can't wait. Highly recommend. #KidLitUk

Definitely this. It doesn't follow a formula that some graphic novels have a habit of doing. It's original and quirky and isn't wedged into a particular genre. All the better for it .
