@joannechocolat.bsky.social hi Joanne, I'm on holiday, trying obscure fruit liqueurs in the Algarve and re-reading Blackberry wine. As a botanical nerd I am really keen to know - did you have a particular variety of potato in mind when writing about Jo's specials?

Absolutely gorgeous to be greeted by a mass of oxeye daisies every time I step out the back door. Huge plants growing from the edge of the concrete..would it look better weeded and bare? I don't think so. Let things grow!

The Real Cheese Project

www.therealcheeseproject.co.uk I have a monthly subscription from these guys and I've found it really interesting how many UK dairy farms have pivoted from milk production to artisan cheese because they can make a better living and treat their herds better.

I'm really getting into British artisan cheese. Especially paired with special condiments. Snowdrop by Cote Hill was Supreme Champion at the British cheese awards last year.

Great write up on a very effective scam that uses a second scammer to call your bank while you speak to the scammer. Don't trust unsolicited calls/texts/emails claiming to be from your bank.

Its a horrendous time in the UK for anyone who cares about biodiversity. The Planning & infrastructure bill looms like disaster over us. Spending much time in my garden observing the life all around me

Really thought provoking piece, especially struck by the idea of decarbonisation as disempowering people (understand that and feel it myself sometimes) but tackling adaptation initiatives prompts more resilience.

Title: Modern Folk horrors of the British Isles

Five images of various characters:

A coven of murderous witches...
Who play loud youtube videos on public transport.

An ancient malevolent demon...
With a three-hour podcast interviewing entrepreneurs.

A flock of bloodthirsty ravens...
Who think absolutely everything is "Woke".

A primordial shambling beast...
Wearing a "Make albion great again" baseball cap.

A mob of satanic villagers...
Who give bad reviews to books they haven't read.

How do you start the day, with tea or coffee? And do you take milk with that?

Today's #bloomscrolling post is a dash of milk in your day - Neotinea lactea, the lactea referring to its milky tones.

We think it deserves a prettier name than the rather clunky 'Milky Orchid' - suggestions please!

The faithful harbinger of another season of turning atmospheric CO2 pollution into rich, diverse nature, whether in the rainforest, or rewilding up the hill. 🌏
