The writing was atrocious, most significantly for the last film.
I agree, it’s a meaningless term at this point. People apply it to any female character regardless of their traits.
Leia, Padme, Mara, Ahsoka, and many more are all incredible characters and don’t deserve to be diminished.
If you can’t defend Rey without knocking down other female characters, maybe Rey isn’t that great.
But she’s so smart and pretty and witty. I am intimidated. 🫣

I don’t really have a favorite film version. I really stick to the book on this one. Most versions just make it more of a stereotypical romance.

I was thinking the same thing! It reminds me of accusations of blasphemy, calling people heretics for engaging with the wrong book.
I genuinely think bots are seeding some of these “opinions” to sew division.
