For reference: ceiling sheet rock is plastic coated (blown insulation, too), so no damage to it. No mold, rot, etc. on the beam, either, so definitely a very new thing. So, there's that, at least. YaY?!

Oof, first leak in the new house—roof is fine. Water is wicking from the roofline, UNDER one of the ceiling 2x4s to a junction box for a smoke detector, breaking the wicking path. Wires dry, device safe. Drip during rain last night (our bedroom). Soffit issue? Gutters? Only $$$ inspection will tell.
