I didn’t know how to call my reps about concerns in an effective way a few months ago. I didn’t even know who my reps were a few months ago. I learned.

There was a time when you couldn’t do a BnB. You learned. This is no different, and it’s a lot easier than winning in FGs.

You don’t have to talk to a staffer if you don’t want to. Offices are only open during business hours on weekdays. Call late, early, or on a weekend day to leave a voicemail. Those are all still logged as concerns from constituents who could vote them out in the primaries.

If you live in elsewhere, here is the script I have personally been using in NJ. Updated since Kristi Noem is gone now; will update again to ask for a “no” vote on confirming the new guy.

Please don’t burn yourselves out on avenues that are unlikely to be effective. 5-10 minutes leaving voicemails for your two senators and your house representative is more than most people are doing. You don’t have to fight fascism single-handedly. Small actions add up.

What’s happening to Lud and others right now is extremely upsetting and can leave you feeling like unless you take dramatic action, you aren’t helping at all. That isn’t true. You don’t need to call every US senator. Calling your own still helps pressure them to act against ICE.

Calling reps that aren’t yours can actually cause indirect harm because you are wasting their time. They cannot help you, just like you cannot vote for or against them in their primaries. They could be helping their own constituents. Call your own reps.

Calling a rep that isn’t yours is like calling a plumber in New York because your friend clogged their toilet in Florida, while you live in Virginia. That rep can’t help even if they wanted to. I already tried my NJ reps and was told so very directly.

- If you live in MD, call *about Lud*

- If you live elsewhere, your reps cannot help Lud, but you can still demand their action against ICE *in general*

- Calling reps that aren’t your own does more harm than good

She has locked the cats out so she can eat potato chips in bed while playing Tomb Raider in her comfy sweats and I have never been more attracted to a person in my life

She thinks I’m laughing out of judgment (to which I would have no right) but I’m laughing because this is the BEST??? She found her game? Easy mode is forgiving enough to keep her engaged? She’s yelling at the TV and stumbling around and I LOVE HERRRR

I went to bed before she did on Friday because she was playing Definitive Edition on the PS5. She has her own PS4 on a much smaller TV upstairs that has gone almost entirely unused, and now she’s playing Shadow of the Tomb Raider on that while I play RE9 downstairs.

The girlfriend’s childhood dabbling in video games consisted mostly of a PS3 Tomb Raider.

She has discovered a couple of the PS4 entries, and suddenly she’s gaming… all weekend? Like she’s me?

Just wrote 1,000 words of my first NEW DRAFT since I started my debut in 2020. Physically wrestling my fear of imperfection to the ground until it taps out. I have more stories in me. They will be messy. I can fix that later. I have a draft to write now.
