We all know, that when driving, we are just a moment’s inattention away from causing unspeakable tragedy. So we, as a society, give ourselves a free pass. We agree to broad, mutual indemnity when undertaking the most dangerous thing most of us will ever do. Driving.

It's not complicated: a lawless POTUS is abusing war powers in peacetime, exploiting the most powerful military ever built to hunt human beings, capture and imprison them, mistreat and abuse them, rip them from families, ship them anywhere, and kill them at sea and on land, abroad and at home.

Yep. Kids, pedestrians and cyclists unpredictable? Sure they are. So put your phone away, slow down and pay attention. Drivers have a solemn and absolute duty to not kill people with their cars. Don’t want that job? Don’t drive.

In a world like ours where human drivers break the law whenever they want to (which is to say just about all the time), law-following self driving cars may be untenable. Once people realise that they can be bullied, they'll never get anywhere.

If they are progammed to drive like humans do in terms of constant law-breaking, the executives should be prosecuted. If the Waymos follow the law, they'll be bullied off the road. People are already waking up to the fact that a Waymo generally won't try a bluff.

The issue about killing the last 2 survivors is secondary: Trump and Hegseth have ordered *83* murders, not 2.
None of these people were ‘enemy combatants’.
They were suspected drug smugglers until proven to be guilty in a fair trial.

Would the author say the same about building bike lanes? Installing automatic traffic cameras? Requiring Intelligent Speed Assist?

All of those are proven to save lives — and at a fraction of AVs' cost.

If I’m not riding in that perfectly good bike lane, you can be 100% sure it’s a long fucking way from being “perfectly good”. The last thing I want is to have to “share” the road with entitled cunts like you.

Judges should rule on whether or not the law has been broken. Laws are often very complex & the concepts that determine guilt can be very diffuclt for non-traned people to understand & apply. Juries can then deliberate on how much we, as society, want to punish those who are ruled to have broken it.

Just imagining how much better it would be if ALL news stories about vaccine-preventable illnesses were illustrated with pictures of people with the disease, not pictures of needle injections. If you must show something that people will find scary & unpleasant, make it the disease, not the cure.

Emergency vehicle access is very important. Every major road should have a separated, protected emergency vehicle lane. (When not in use by emergency vehiles, cyclists and other mobility users could use it, as they can easily get out of the way when required.)

Can you imagine them leaving a car lane like that? They wouldn't.

Did that interaction cause you to:

B) “Stay in your lane”?
C) Stick to bike advocacy?
D) Abandon the trans community?

It’s worse than that. Look at the rates at which wealth is accumulating to the already wealthy, regardless of their income from employment.
