Refer fellow artists to gigs you cannot take on, review grant applications, read layouts, give the direct email address of the printer you go to, share information, all the time, always. Buy self-published zines! It's an ecosystem and being helpful and kind is as important as being talented!
Now the real question is: can you write creative fiction writer on your CV without mentioning where you post? 😂
The best way to never get around to writing that book is to be dumb enough to write fanfiction but not for a company that owns the IP

My go-to advice on how to become a better writer—and a better comic creator—is to read.
Seriously, read tons of books, of different types & genres. Devour books. Read them with intention.
Take inventory of what themes/techniques resonate with you, and your writing *will* passively improve.
