I think it's really important to have goals that are self sufficient and don't rely on other people. "I want to make a story that inspires people" is a common goal but you have no say in whether people will be inspired by your work. What if you instead wrote for your own enjoyment?

I too have done the call centre jobs but I have *also* worked as part of the higher up team that would review the call centre job performances, documenting why they were doing great or poorly.

Call centres are costly to train and these employees aren't suddenly going to get fired.
