And also better medical treatments means that more people survive what would have been fatal illnesses and accidents not long ago. But not rarely they are left with some disabilities or chronic illnesses. From babies born prematurely to cancer, strokes, brain injuries and so on.

The only concession that needs to be made on the PIP cuts is throwing them in the bin.

The Government should make the tough choice of going after their rich billionaire donors.

A decision that will actually be hard for them.

Let’s end the involvement of profit-driven multinational companies and poorly trained staff. Assessments should be based on the expertise of real doctors and healthcare professionals, not a flawed system. #takingthepip #fight4life #disabilitybenefits

Far too often, individuals who are genuinely unwell and disabled receive 0 points across the board. The fight doesn’t end tomorrow. We need to ensure a fair assessment process for everyone.

At first glance, it might seem fair that you need 4 points to qualify for PIP. But we all know the truth, many sick and disabled people are already denied the support they need because of incompetent and cruel assessors.

DWP says 150,000 more people pushed into poverty by benefit cuts - not 250,000 as forecast said before U-turn
The Department for Work and Pensions has just published an analysis saying that, allowing for the concesssions announced last week, the welfare cuts will still push an extra 150,000 people into relative poverty.

I’m sorry, the DWP announcing β€œdon’t worry, the benefits u-turn means only 150,000 people will be pushed into poverty now!” is just insane. Cruel, incompetent ghouls who shouldn’t be allowed to run a bath let alone a system sick people rely on to live.

The β€œwelfare reform bill” is out and let’s be clear: this is not reform - it is devastating cuts. Disabled people will be made poorer, sicker, and more isolated as a result. That it is a Labour government causing this misery will be a mark of shame on the party for years to come.

There are 650 MPs and after the GE 411 of them were Labour. A huge majority.

I'm actually extremely disappointed that only about 10% of them are saying disability cuts are impossible to support.

Quite shocking really.

It’s time we stand up, not to demand new rights, but to defend the ones we already have. Rights that were hard-won are now under threat.

No one else is going to fight this battle for us.
We owe it to ourselves, and to every generation that struggled before us, not to stay silent.

Cruel cuts to disability support: the Work and Pensions Secretary needs to hear from your MP Our social security system should be there for us all, especially when we need it most. But the UK government has proposed huge cuts to disabled people’s support when they’re already three times more ...

When we face tough times, our social security system should be there to support us.

But the UK government is planning to slash support for disabled people. This would impact thousands of people like Steve.

❗ But this isn't a done deal yet. Email your MP now

Steve’s life changed completely after an injury left him unable to work.

He got little support from the social security system, and the amount he received wasn't even enough to cover essentials, like food and bills.

Steve was left with no option but to turn to a food bank.
