Little Amélie or the Character of Rain The world is a perplexing, peaceful mystery to Amélie until a miraculous encounter with chocolate ignites her wild sense of curiosity. As she develops a deep attachment to her family's housekeeper, Nishio-san, Amélie discovers the wonders of nature as well as the emotional truths hidden beneath the surface of her family's idyllic life as foreigners in post-war Japan.

Watched: Little Amélie or the Character of Rain. Glad I was able to see this in the theater today. Beautiful. 🍿

Little Amélie was absolutely beautiful.

From falling love with Amélie and changing my perspective on many things...this was such an experience. One of my new favorites.

You must go see it at all costs.

“Little Amélie, or The Character of Rain” was really good! I like when animation studios follow an artistic vision instead of chasing trends.

I’m also realizing I’m easily won over by deep moments that aren’t immediately undercut by a joke.

Visually lovely. Mesmerizing. A+

Easily the most stunning animated film this year particularly the heightened palette by Justine Thiebault

Warm up with the central relationship and peer into a 2&half year old’s view of the world, inscribed to memory as an act of obstinate preservation

I’m directing a really funny play this Fri/Sat 8pm at the Pico Theater. For anyone in the industry, esp writers this one’s for you. Waiting for Gadot: a director & writer sit in the waiting room to pitch to Gal Gadot.
The cast is amazing. And we take a few digs at AI.

It seems the post has been deleted and there may have been translation issues, that said I was just using it as an example that artists can’t rely on public statements to not use AI, because those feeling may change. We need stronger protections in our laws and our contracts.

Remember when Nintendo said they had no interest in Gen AI? How many companies have publicly said they have no interest in using it for games only to then turn around and do it. It’s why our laws and contacts have to protect artists and not rely on them keeping their word

The barest of bare minimums we still need for a semi-safe contract. The extremely narrow definition of what an ICDR is, according to employers, still concerns me, too, as it leaves a lot uncovered. But without these 3 things, we have NO DEAL! #SAGAFTRAstrong #LevelUpTheContract

80% of the membership who works the video game contract voted for these three things FIXED before we could agree to it. And it still wouldn’t be as good as the interim contract that 215 companies have signed.

NO DEAL until we have complete AI protections without loophole wording in the contract.

The Latest “LBFO” IMA offer

We know there are a lot of images and questions circulating regarding the “LBFO”

Let’s discuss some discrepancies we’ve seen & concerns we still have based on what members of Neg Comm have provided

The Latest “LBFO” IMA offer We know there are a lot of images and questions circulating regarding the “LBFO” Let’s discuss some discrepancies we’ve seen & concerns we still have based on what members of Neg Comm have provided (Please note: This is going to be text heavy)

Regarding DR (Digital Replicas):

There is no such thing as a PCAP DR in the LBFO. Visual DRs are supposed to cover on-camera performances in video games, but the employers still reserve their interpretation of the contract that the only performance capture covered by the IMA is PCAP that has spoken dialogue. They do not consider any “movement-only PCAP” acting and don’t feel that they have to pay motion-only performers under union contracts.

Obviously, the union disagrees with that interpretation of the contract, but the committee has tried to make sure that any proposals in the contract effectively retain each side’s positions on this topic to address it in future negotiations.

Visual DRs only apply to visual performance (face or body) for cinematics, and only for a specific, objectively identifiable performer.

Employers are free to create in-game movement or facial
performance without consent, transparency or compensation.

“Can Suspend Consent During A Strike”

There are five instances in which you would not be able to suspend consent of something that creates new performance, even objectively identifiable as you in-character, during a strike.

i. DR (if prepaid sessions’ worth)
ii. ICDR
iii. Scratch
iv. Multi-game rights
v. Prompting

This could be for one or several of the following reasons:

i. Explicitly carved out (ICDR, scratch)
ii. Because they can prepay you and they get to “use what they’ve paid for” (DR, ICDR, scratch, multi-game rights)
iii. It’s not covered by the contract at all, no consent, transparency, compensation (prompting by ANYTHING other than the actor’s name)

And this could be for sideletter 6 games only (multi-game rights, DR) or even for struck games (ICDR, scratch, prompting).

To be clear, if they pre-pay you for any of your sessions for a DR, then you can’t suspend that pre-paid DR work during a strike for SL6 games. That can greatly reduce the effect of a strike. In TV/Film, even if they pay you ahead of time, you can go on strike and disrupt production. You are then required to go back to work once the strike is over.

So...what can suspend consent during a strike?

Vocal and Visual DRs do require capital “C” consent

This includes the ability to remove consent during a strike, but your performance has to qualify as one of those two types first.

ICDRs have no strike consent provisions at all.

Once you sign up for an ICDR, there is no way to revoke your consent. And if they prompt a character voice using the character’s name rather than an actor’s name (e.g. The Voice of Female Commander Shepard from Mass Effect) that digital voice doesn’t even qualify as an ICDR, much less a Vocal DR.

This means they can do whatever they want with it since, as far as the contract states, it’s not covered by the IMA.

There are a lot of images being shared by the community, some of which are, unfortunately, not accurate. It does not help anyone to spread misinformation about the Last Best and Final Offer (LBFO) given to membership in regards to the IMA Contract.

I'm really worried about the future. I feel like the trend of discourse isn't learning and growing, but looking for "gotcha" info (even if it's misunderstood or flat-out wrong) to win an argument at any cost.

There is strength in acknowledging your own mistakes or weaknesses and learning from them.
