something i've started doing that i really recommend other educators do is to DOWNLOAD all of your key youtube video examples so that you have a local file on hand instead of relying on youtube to host it in perpetuity!

Genuinely delighted to download a PhD thesis from a university repository where the author has neglected to remove the words "BITCH THIS IS YOUR THESIS" from the filename.

My good deed of the day is turning my camera on in a Zoom meeting solely because my cat is visible in the background

Officials Are Denied Access to Library of Congress After Trump Names New Boss

Librarians, the toughest of all. β€œStaff members at the library called the U.S. Capitol Police as well as their general counsel, Meg Williams, who told the men they were not allowed access to the Copyright Office and asked them to leave,” which they did.

Feels concerning to me that the era of "do your own research" as policy is coinciding with the era of "all the highest quality research is paywalled and there's an absolute fountain of true and reliable sounding garbage floating around in fake journals available for free"

'Paradisi in sole paradisus terrestris, or, A garden of all sorts of pleasant flowers' by English herbalist and botanist John Parkinson (1567-1650). London, 1629.

I saw this at the Oak Spring Garden Foundation while taking a class with Rare Book School @rarebookschool.bsky.social.

The new IMLS director is busy sending termination letters to grants that are already completed. It’s not like there’s a pile of unspent funds, everything is already paid for.

Are we great and efficient yet?
