Yeah, those fun people are always forgetting the whole picture.
It's definitely the "good old days" to the ones who are well off and also to those who aren't getting murdered.
I absolutely love the design aesthetics and ambition of the past, but to exist in 1930 was an entirely different matter.
August 11, 1930: Toronto paused as the R-100, nearly as long as Union Station, circled the city after a record transatlantic flight.
Dreams of inter-Empire air travel faded after the R-101 crash in October, and the R-100 was soon scrapped.

Two icons from 1923: Durant “Star Car” & Victor Victrola VV-50, together at Motorista Studio for Viva La Leaside.
The Star Car was built across the street at the Durant factory, taking on Ford’s Model T. My VV-50, Victor’s 1st portable phonograph, runs on a hand-cranked motor—no electricity needed!

Very cool Mike, it's quite possible I've met that guy.
The Guelph Airpark is a great hotspot for Tiger Moths through the legendary "Tiger Boys" flying club that has been there for decades.
Six years later, in 2018, that same aircraft crashed near Piz Segnas, Switzerland while flying from Locarno to Dübendorf. Tragically, all 20 people on board were killed. May they rest in peace.

We waited on top of the Scarborough Bluffs near St. Augustine’s Seminary, what we believed would be a good vantage point. Happily, it was a great spot to see it, and the plane returned multiple times.
The good photos here are my dad’s, his camera did a far better job than mine.
Aug 8, 2012: a 1939 Junkers JU-52 visited Toronto as part of Rimowa’s North America tour. My dad Keith and I heard those antique engines roaring over Lake Ontario and jumped in the car to chase it.
