Sometimes it's okay to abstract certain game mechanics to remove the boring/clunky parts.

Weird, I have never seen that happen, especially since your computer can run 80 ppl instances.
Are you sure all your components are working properly? Had a friend whose GPU lagged whenever there were any kind of particles in any games.
