It is estimated that 550,000 children will be lifted out of poverty as a result of the Government's strategy. What about the other 4 million children living in poverty?

1. Removing the benefit cap The lifting of the two-child limit will help reduce the 4.5 million children living in poverty in the UK. But without the removal of the benefit cap, welcome steps like scrapping the two-child limit can only go so far and won't reach all families.

2. Legally binding goals The government did not set out any ambitious overall targets to eradicate child poverty beyond 2030. Without legally binding goals, there is a risk the government will not be held accountable for achieving their aims.

Heading into Christmas, the last thing parents should worry about is school uniform prices.

Yet 54% of lowest income families struggle to pay for uniforms.

We encourage the prompt implementation of the limit on branded uniform items in the Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Bill.

It was great to meet with @childrenssociety.bsky.social Young Advisors for the annual Good Childhood Report. This year's report focuses on reclaiming hope in a changing world. We must take our young people's wellbeing seriously, and I'm glad to see their call for a national wellbeing measurement!

As schoolwork and family expectations drive strain, teenagers say they want to be understood by adults.

Early support services are essential to prevent worries from spiralling.

We are calling for changes to strengthen the Bill and ensure that no child is punished for the crimes they are forced to commit by the adults exploiting them.
