Got my Ph.D. in 2008 - this spring, I finally broke down and bought my regalia. The timing is either completely right or completely wrong (but I do need it for commencement and I refuse to rent the sweaty, threadworn $74 version one more year...).

PS. Also eff the environmental impact of this! California can only get better if it gets hotter, right?

And after we've outsourced the efforts for them to use their brains, structure ideas or learning to express themselves, we wonder why our students can't think indepently/critically, express themselves coherently or assemble relevant information from a variety of source materials in daily life....🤷

Dear Students - as of Wednesday, please, accept this free system that will a) come up with new ideas for you so you don't have to; b) write your outlines for your essays, and c) find the appropriate sources for said essays.

They analyzed "grinding" stones and found they weren't used to grind grains. Further analysis showed they weren't grinding stones but pounding stones for pounding starches/nuts.

Says they didn't make bread. They ate grains in forms like oatmeal or oatmeal cakes.
