We are now excavating in Adai archaeological site. The team is directed by Pilar Prieto Martinez (EcoPast and @cispac.bsky.social). The members of our team, Noemí and Raul, are sampling a pedo-sedimentary sequence to monitorize the evolution of the site.

Ainé Francos Golán is the lab manager of the PollutedPast project. She curates all the data produced by the project, processing many of the samples, coordinating the other laboratory technicians and taking care of our equipment, while maintaining her own research.

Elena Brea Bermejo is the project manager of PollutedPast. She makes sure everything runs financially and is managed correctly. Manages contracts, our website, social networks and relationship with the ERC. Ainé and she are the heart of the project.

The postdoctoral researcheer of PollutedPast team, Jenny Sjöström, is looking for macros for 14C dating in Dala mosse core, a peatland from Småland in South Sweden. The microscope picture is a beetle wing, c 8000 yrs old.

One more year, part of the team is excavating at the Corro dos Mouros site in Adai, Lugo. The work is directed by Dr. Pilar Prieto Martínez, PI of EcoPast. Adai is a RODA type site, an funerary and ritual spaces from the Bronze and Iron Age surrounded by a unique circular wall.

Marta Colmenares-Prado is a PhD candidate in the ERC project PollutedPast. Her thesis deals with the applications of spectroscopy, FTIR-ATR, to the study of archaeological human remains. She has also worked on mercury analysis, color, elemental composition, and SEM.

Dr. Aranzazu Fernández Quintas is the postdoctoral researcher expert in paleography. She delves into the Medieval and Modern archives to find out who managed the mines, how the metals were used, what products were cultivated and eaten, and the impact of diseases.

Dr. Noemí Silva was the first postdoc to join the PollutedPast team.
She is expert in environmental archeology, and works in the project with peatlands and lakes of the Iberian Peninsula, reconstructing paleopollution related to heavy metals, such as Pb and Hg.
