root vegetable update : after 94 days, the carrots are revealing themselves. i keep waiting for this radish to become round but it only becomes wider. the beets are starting to become bulbous.

🌱 updates.. i turned BB-11 (basil) around to water and was shocked to see it had grown a ton without me realizing it. also i need to start eating this lettuce. BB-28 (swiss chard i got from daiso) is starting to sprout. bonus unrelated pic of a storm glass i moved next to my desk.

BB-01 (komatsuna) is my oldest plant at 86 days old but it’s still growing new leaves all the time. i take a couple leaves for miso soup every few days.

from my understanding, blocking light from the water solution is key to preventing algae from creepin in so cans are handy for that

one new experiment i’ve been trying Is propagation. i lobbed off one of the basil plants last week and it survived so i cut the other one today.. if roots start to grow then it means success🤞i threw the trimmed leaves into our pasta lunch.

today is a water swap day.. to track the ongoings of my garden i set up a database in notion. each plant has its own id & database entry

i set up a formula so that plants that haven’t been watered for a week automatically populate a list. updating the “swapped water” date removes them from the list

perhaps one day i will take up canning to complete the circle of life

one of my favorite containers i cobbled together is an ume shiso udon bowl w/ a pickle container that perfectly fit into it. and is now growing a shiso plant (thematically appropriate) 😌 a container fitting inside another container…that is the dream

this week i harvested the radishes at 66 days old. i wonder if they could’ve gotten bigger but the leaves were enormous.. we roasted everything in the air fryer and the leaves crisped up similar to kale chips
