Midwest parties in the winter:
Every now and then, it's worth reminding yourself that every single crisis of Trump 2.0 -- the economic downturn, the chaos in our cities, the rising health crisis, the foreign wars -- has been a direct result of their own actions.
If they'd done nothing at all, they'd be coasting comfortably.
If I’m going down, I’m going down with sick ink
Anybody else spending all their savings because the concept of a future is increasingly inconceivable?
Women always worked.
Hard labour, farm work, construction, manufacturing, hunting, whatever.
In medieval Europe, there were more jobs that men didn’t do than jobs women didn’t do.
Even progressives get this wrong.
Women always worked.
there’s ONE condition under which I will accept Cis Man Takes on birth rates:
that is “cis men trying to figure out how they can make like a sea horse and take on the biological burden of reproduction themselves, instead of trying to shove the work off on somebody else born with unlucky organs.”
It’s hard to blame woke DEI when the military is losing a war because of the straits.
You don't get to paper over the fact that they are bigots. They knowingly wanted to strip minorities and women of any historical representation. They killed projects simply because they had ethnic identities and genders attached.
This can't be the same brain that knew all the channel numbers
Yeah this is why I wouldn’t be so quick to buy the idea they don’t read any books as it’s much more likely they understand the books they’re reading are supposed to secret and “gnostic” as recently described.
Isn't it weird that there are whole systems to deal with veterans and PTSD and stuff. But what about systems to deal with victims of trauma - folks who've lost their entire families, survived endless waves of bombing, repeated assaults etc. We never hear about what's been done for them.
6 years ago, Breonna Taylor was killed in her own home during a no-knock raid. Her death led to reforms, including federal limits on no-knock warrants, tighter use-of-force standards, & stronger police accountability rules. Now the Trump DOJ has quietly erased those protections.
Watching Politico get told they're sanewashing shit by the guy they're sanewashing is just excellent. Media cooked. Getting dunked on by the people they're protecting. We are in the post-dignity era of the press.
plenty of blame to go around but I always think about what a different world we'd be living in if mitch mcconnell hadn't blocked conviction and removal
lol at all the strongmen finding out intelligence is actually a critical trait
You, serious and informed: This is terrible and will cause a power vacuum & instability in S. America
Me, serious but differently informed: Would you say this situation is analogous to the power vacuum and instability in Jair Bolsonaro's body whenever his internist leaves him unattended for a week?
regular reminder that people who live in republican governed states still deserve human fuckin rights
This is canon imo
hyper-individualism is really killing people.
hey, so, this is wildly irresponsible "reporting" that seems to be for the express purpose of garnering fear clicks from trans women, and idk why nobody's calling this out. This Is Not Happening, Nor Will It Ever Happen. thread.
It is so hard to be trans right now, y’all. Like, I can’t speak for everyone but I’m white-knuckling it pretty much constantly at this point. I hope cis people are understanding how much is at stake for us in this moment: It’s literally our right to exist as ourselves that is being stripped away.
Realizing the bubble I live in is not left/right but people who understand the scale and seriousness of the moment and are willing to think ambitiously and creatively about ways to address it and those that… just don’t.
Remember when I said don’t ever ever ever ever ever give your health records to any of these AI companies and don’t think HIPAA will help you because it won’t apply?
Looks like NYT is finally picking up on that
Super-bummed about REI screwing its unions. If you have any more info or seen good coverage, lemme know. I’ve really reduced my spending there while management was refusing to negotiate in good faith; had hope more recently but it seems that is shattered. www.ourrei.com/know-before-...
Ugh damn, I also had hope recently. RIP REI 😞

This picture gets funnier the longer I look at it. My favorite detail is the Christmas cookie tin
someone on marketplace has been trying to sell this couch for weeks and the price keeps getting lower and I just don’t think thats the issue
People keep telling me to get into stocks, but I don't see how this isn't just gambling with more collateral damage.
