is it just me or is the pen accuracy better?? maybe it's because the framerate has increased?
okay nvm i downloaded 5.0 just to try it and this is awesome. im a little scared of becomign reliant on this tool but ngl i was using tools for perfect curves and lines already
right now anytime i need to draw a perfectly straight line or perfect circle i use the ruler tool or shape tool. which is a pain in the ass
does anyone think the smart shape tool in csp 5.0 is useful? i am on the fence because it's like the only thing out of the list of updates that i would use but a new license is 200 dollaroos (i need ex)
hands u an ouj boy
shits out fanfest stickers so fast. imma only give out the pink catgirl if people ask about the blackfire baby (too lazy to make tags invis #art #ouj)
i endured the most terrifying plane ride of my life today but now i am home and i am going to play monster hunter. come see me at PIE on sunday
I was terrified
April 28 is my travel day ππ i cant believe yoship would do me like this
14 sure does have a lot of dungeons that can be given a vulgar nickname
Maybe we have lost something now that professional lit is overwhelmingly published as novels rather than serials and serial literature is mostly represented by fanfiction and manga
been reading the brothers karamazov on the recommendation of a friend and my hot take is that 19th century serial lit is functionally structured the same as serial manga. i'm reading chapter cliffhangers like wow if i was a 19th century russian reading this i'd be fucked up until the next chap
"is that water" yea lol. it's scary i'm scared
My pen running out of ink
It prob wasn't the tools but they do make ignoring skillbuilding easier
I think plenty of people start drawing without learning to interpret at all and instead replace building that skill with memorizing symbols tbh. this is only natural because the barrier to entry for art is extremely low and it isn't intuitive that one needs to build foundational skills to draw well
I mean reference is always necessary and not a problem. The problem is when people only use 3d models (not accurate) or only trace references (not interpreting). Striving for less wonk is fine
haha
I'm done though I think we should both stop before someone gets mad
Sorry you have also stepped on my secret landmine. art is fun and it depresses me when people act like the process of making art and building skill is both undesirable and ideally skippable. Like huh? I'm doing it because I like it though?
i share a lot of ur feelings. its really depressing to me how a lot of popular art advice on social media appears to be geared towards how to produce a visually pleasing image for likes rather than how to improve as an artist because art is fun. Like at that point just generate an image with ai man
yes it's so stiff and lifeless. I think it's a necessity with the timelines and workloads but it makes me sad sometimes. I like to see artistry
I got one from muji it was like 2 dollars π
Yeah fair! I think tools like 3d models have their place esp for accessibility reasons but unfortunately they aren't perfect yet. Maybe someday
my spicy take is when i see an illustration that was clearly drawn by tracing csp 3d models i feel disappointed. like i'm here to see YOU interpret the human form through YOUR lens actually. Maybe this is too pretentious but I like art bro
I do also think that while 3d models have come a long way there is no replacement for the real thing. hands are complex and have muscles and tendons that bulge and are visible depending on the pose
I will say that you don't need any fancy 3d hand models and tracing fancy 3d hand models won't teach you anything. You can keep a little pocket mirror on your desk and use that to look at your own hand when you draw. I do it and it's awesome
I agree but it wastes so much time... i try to do it as little as possible but i still do it
