I'm not against joining talks with France.
I just think this is going to be one of those incidents where they say one thing but soon realize that we can't afford to sit this out.
As a result, the part where we're supposed to debate and deliberate these things is squeezed or left out altogether.

Yes, I totally agree with that assessment.
They don't like to end up being at odds with our European allies either, however, so we get this "hit the brakes", "slam the gas", "hit the brakes" motion -
Contradictory statements, rushed decisions, and backpedaling.

Plausible.
It's also possible that our government is feeling the pressure so today they're like "let's not rush this".
Tomorrow, there will be a statement along the lines of "we're going to do this and that's the end of the discussion".

Of course, a week later they will be bending over backwards to explain how nothing has changed and no one should, in any way, feel threatened by this.

Valtonen: Suomella ei ole kiire keskustella Ranskan ydinasealoitteesta
Kahdeksan maata, myรถs Ruotsi, ovat aloittaneet keskustelut ydinpelotteesta Ranskan kanssa.
Finland's Minister of Foreign Affairs says "there's no rush" to join the talks following France's European nuclear deterrent initiative.
If this is anything like the Greenland crisis, "no rush" means that we'll have a small nuclear arsenal by next Tuesday.

Trump was told in 2025 that Iran and his favorite country, Russia, are allies. He was taken aback by that, but forgot it before the meeting ended.
Trump and his administration are incapable of assessing the knock-on effects of their military campaigns.

What is so maddening about Europe these days is that even in Europe this is not the Big Story. We are so captured by American drama, and the easy content its news providers overwhelm us with.

I don't see why Moscow should decide which troops are stationed on our soil.
Second, I will never leave Donbas and the 200,000 Ukrainians who live there. Why on earth should I do that? Because Putin imposes it as a condition for peace?

Ukraine did a great job reverse engineering Russian Shahed / Geran drones. You can literally go on the website and see component breakdown - made in Texas, Germany, Switzerland.
Very relevant for Iran warfare.
I suggest you check it out. Share it.

Greece sends warships, fighter jets to defend Cyprus after drone strike
The deployment comes after a Shahed-type unmanned aerial vehicle hit Britainโs airbase at Akrotiri in Cyprus overnight.
Greece has ordered the deployment of a military force to Cyprus following drone incursions on the Mediterranean island that have dragged an EU member state into the U.S.-Israeli campaign against Iran.
