The Burbs (Peacock TV) is a missed opportunity. Two episodes in and I’m on my phone as I watch it. Took all the creepy suspicion and suspense from the movie and turned it into boring suburbia…which is exactly what the movie subverted.

Of course Ariana's dad is worse than she is. That whole family is terrible. Bad characters, bad actors.

Why is Aynsley so dumb? Why not make her smart? She can still be "cute and bubbly." She didn't know what a pirate was? Really? And sometimes she acts like she's five. Just creepy and weird. #Landman

Landman S2E4: I can't see a single reason why Cooper would want to be with Ariana. She treats him like crap. She has no personality. He's on the verge of getting rich and he's miserable because she hates him. I don't get it.

Landman S2E4. Show just stalls out anytime Cooper and Ariana are on screen. Right now they've broken up. I can't imagine fans wanting to see these two. You'd think that the young characters would be interesting, but they're all the worst characters.

23.12.2025 05:29 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Landman: S2E4. Here we go again: We've got to hear Ariana tell her sob story again. And how much money is she making bartending? They talk like it's a thousand a night. That might be the most unrealistic part of this unrealistic show.

I like Demi Moore as an actress, but it's difficult watching her try and emote on Landman. She can't move her face muscles. Her and Nicole Kidman.

Ariana (Landman) is one of my least favorite characters of all time. Who wrote that character? She's awful.

One of the worst parts of Landman is when they slip in some old fashioned GOP talking points about oil.
Should this show avoid politics? No. But by doing so it is open to criticism, and romanticizing big oil is so out of touch with where we're at in the 21st century. Not financially but ethically.

There was a moment when the dinner scene was interesting: How would Cooper handle Aynsley (what kind of name is that, btw?) stealing his thunder?
Nevermind: It's time for Angela to lose her shit and ruin the scene.

22.12.2025 07:31 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

But they ruin her character when she flies off the handle and gets abusive. It's not funny or enduring, which is what the tone suggests it's supposed to be.
The dinner scene in ep 1, season 2: Her tantrum just throws off the vibe of the scene.

Ali Larter and Billy Bob Thornton chew up scenes like crazy. I like both of these actors. I can't imagine Landman with two less competent actors.

I don't know if I'm hate watching Landman season 2, but I probably should go to therapy. I don't even know who I'm talking to on here. I just need the universe to know that I hate Landman.

22.12.2025 07:01 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

The worst part of Landman belongs to Cooper Norris. I have a difficult time describing why I dislike that character so much. Maybe it's bc the actor sucks. Whatever it is, I don't recall disliking a character/actor as much as him since Ana Lucia in LOST.

I also really dislike his girlfriend.

22.12.2025 07:00 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

One of the (many) absurd things about Landman is that the audience is supposed to be rooting for "the little guy" oil company owned by (Monty/Cami Miller), like they're an indie record store in the '90s.
It's preposterous and comically bad.
But it's not the worst part of the show...

Landman might be the worst show in the history of television, which is why it makes total sense that I just started season 2.

Where does Sydney Sweeney fit within the thriller genre? She's less Sharon Stone and more Kathleen Turner. Like Turner, her sexiness is the character, but I haven't seen Sydney have fun in a role the way Turner does in Body Heat or Romancing the Stone. I think she needs a movie like that.

The Housemaid Review (Part 2):
Contrast Sydney's performance with someone like Ana de Armas in Deep Water. Ana really goes for it, reminiscent of Sharon Stone in Basic Instinct.
Sydney mumbles through her lines. Not sure femme fatale or, like in The Housemaid, female vengeance is her thing.

The Housemaid is a weird spousal abuse thriller with a healthy amount of revenge thrown in. Is it good? Yes. Not great though. Sweeney doesn't quite make sense in the movie but I can't figure out why. She's not bad. She's just sort of "there."

I wrote a review that is mostly the opposite of this one. I never thought the military story was good and I *hated* the lack of rules for IT's superpowers (which have been an issue in every adaptation of the book).

I ultimately gave it an F grade.

IT review pt. 4.
The storylines for the kids aren't much better.

This show is f*ing boring. I don't know who it's for, because it sure isn't for horror fans. This show's got as much creep factor/scares as My Little Pony.

II'm really disappointed in the direction the show took.

IT review pt. 3:
I don't even know what's happening anymore because the second the main military characters are on the screen, I'm out. I get on my phone, get distracted, etc. Especially when the ghost whisperer Dick Hallorann is involved. There's nothing interesting about that character. Cont...

IT review pt. 2:
Who was asking for this military storyline? Did the writers sit in on their meetings and ask themselves why any King/IT fan would care about the military? And it's not a small part of the show. It's literally the main plot. I am so uninterested in it that I've tuned out of it...

I'm finally out on HBO's Welcome To Derry. Tonight's sixth episode was the final straw. Here is why:
I consider myself a slightly more than casual King fan. I've read numerous books of his, including IT.
I say that because I do not understand who this show is for. The storylines are awful (cont...)

#booksky I'm currently reading Moscow X, which is a good spy novel. I just finished 438 Days, which is a disappointing nonfiction book about a guy lost at sea. It just wasn't that entertaining. About to begin Karla's Choice which is also a spy novel.

I'm officially out on Derry. I just do not care about the military/Native American storylines. Again I ask what exactly IT's superpowers are. What are the limits? IT's a threat to the country? Can no longer suspend disbelief.

The Beast In Me pt 2. review:

Claire Danes: I just couldn't take her lower lip quivering, "migrant mother" appearance. She was AWFUL.
The plot was ridiculous, especially toward the end.
Brittany Snow was actually the most interesting after Rhys.
The plot was just so very stupid.

I've never watched a show where half way through I really liked it, and then within two episodes I hated it.

The Beast In Me.

A Review:

Matthew Rhys was exceptional in the first few episodes. Claire Danes bothered me from the beginning but I concentrated more on the story. (cont)

Half way through The Beast in Me and I just needed to let anyone reading know that Matthew Rhys is wickedly good in this show. I loved him on The Americans too. He really brings the evil in the role of Nile Jarvis. It should be an Emmy win for him.
