But just to play it safe, I'm letting my publisher handle it. They can screen out the scammers.

I'm also just replying: you are always welcome to recommend any author's books to bookclubs and invite any author to author talks. We're usually excited to participate.

Like I don't get the whole AI "can I have your permission to recommend your *wonderful book* to book clubs" thing?

Authors - There sure are a lot of AI scammers reaching out to us re: book clubs. Some seem very legit. The first thing I ask is "Will you be asking me to pay a fee?" and their response is always "No of course not. Authors are never asked to pay a fee."

So, I'm just directing them to my publisher.

So there's this clearly big budget production filming in my neighborhood right now, but all the crew parking and catering signs say "tampon commercial" and I just think that's cute of them...
