The King's Game: Those affected by this Monarch Aspected Arte are assigned a chess piece and are only able to move in the manner of their assigned piece. They may only move once per every 5 seconds, even if they would normally be fast enough to do so. If you are "Taken", you are dealt damage directly to your soul and are moved to an adjacent space. The longest a master of this Arte can maintain this ability for is 2 minutes. In this illustration, a man named Zack activates this ability and chooses the Queen Piece. Leon, 16 in this scene, choose Bishop out of panic. Dexter, guarding a wounded Leon, chooses the Knight. Faith remarks "You fucked up!" to the two while choosing the Rook. And Flint looks pensively to his ally, pointedly stating "This is a bit extreme for a kid and a college student!" while choosing the Knight as well. As Zack and Faith charge to cut off Leon's movements in disregard to Flint's protest, Leon charges Lightning into his fist and shouts "Dex! I don't know this game!" Dexter flips towards Flint and clashes weapons before shouting "Will yourself in a diagonal line! You have one move every 5 seconds" With a Laser from Zack threatening to rip Leon in half, and Faith blocking all other moves, Leon will need to think fast- How will he do so~ uh.. this is't an actual comic- the answer is he uses "Self-Null" to temporarily delete himself from reality and reappear after the attacks concludes

So uh... I may or may not have been secretly working on a ttrpg in between my HRT stun loop moments. And uh, here's an illustration of one of the spells in it. Making the full page illustrations have that sort of comic-y feel to fit the vibe of the system.

Weather: Grants power over Lightning, Rain, Ice, Snow and Mist Cosmos: Grants power over abstract concepts like Gravity, Radiation, Void and to a very limited extent, time Weather + Cosmos aspect Synthesis: Electromagnetism and Absolute Zero Combustion: Grants power over high energy reactions, like fire, explosive pressure, propulsion, etc. Radiance: Grants power over light and their abstract concepts, including Holy power, Speed, Vision and Lasers. Combustion + Radiance aspect Synthesis: Atomic Explosions and Acceleration Both Eden and Leon have knowledge of the Draconic art of absorbtion, which allows them the unique ability to heal themselves using the part of their aspect, provided they master it. For Leon, this means electricity, and for Eden, this means fire as they are their primary weapon of choice. Both characters can enhance their speed via their aspects, but Leon can't keep up with Eden if she were to go full speed. It takes Leon considerable effort to slow time for himself to even a fraction of what is required, meanwhile Eden's aspect- Light, literally defines the universal speed limit. Leon would die attempting to reach even 1% of Eden's potential. Luckily, Eden is really bad at using her magic effectively and has a long way to go before she can tap into literal lightspeed. Meanwhile, Leon has an incredible control when it comes to using his powers. Allowing him to harmlessly move objects, make wards of wind and gravity, and dealing nonlethal damage. It does allow him the ultimate victory card: If he wished to take someone out with him, he could always choose to make a very brief, very limited black hole to totally obliterate himself and the nearby area...he wouldn't do this. So because Leon & Adeline are both Arcanists, and I have a Leon save file in Kingmaker which has a few year overlap in the timeline- to change up the intro and quicken up to the unique stuff, I started Leon at the level he would be in Kingmaker at the same time. Aeon route time fuckery

As the Imps began to stir and move to defend the territory, Imka came sprinting into the room mere moments after James had managed to escape uncontested. They quickly blocked her path forward, causing her to skid to a halt. She looked at the group of imps of varying hues and genders nervously. "H-hey there! Fuck- That's a lot of you imps. I don't suppose there's a way we could resolve this nonviolently?" While they weren't able to respond in the language she spoke to them, they had aroused reactions to her presence. Some getting wet and some getting erect. They had nonverbally conveyed an alternative resolution. "I guess that works" Imka sheepishly remarked before making an observation about demons"Wait, that one over there is uncircumcised. What are the religious implications there?" As James continued down the hall, at a crossing, Sutha heard and saw him crossing her path. She lept in front of him and greeted "Yo, Junior Knight!" not realizing that he would be unable to stop in time. They collided and both went tumbling further down the hall, Sutha dropping her torch but landing on James as his back slammed into the floor. She was enjoying the view of him under her for the brief moment before they both heard a "Click" of a mechanism react to their bodies.
